FMG wins Prince Michael International Road Safety Award

The For my girlfriend campaign has won a prestigious 2004 Prince Michael International Road Safety Award.

The Award was presented on Saturday 30 October at the climax of a competition to promote the campaign website. The 15 lucky winners and their guests enjoyed an action-packed day at Silverstone, home to the British Grand Prix.

The award was presented by Adrian Walsh (right in top pic), director of RoadSafe, to Daryl Fraser, senior road safety officer, Suffolk County Council, who represented the team behind the campaign.

RoadSafe - the organisation behind the Prince Michael Awards - is a road safety partnership of leading companies in the motor and transport industries in Britain, the Government and road safety professionals. It aims to reduce deaths and injuries caused by road accidents and promote safer driving.

Presenting the award, Adrian Walsh said: "Young, newly qualified drivers are especially vulnerable.  This ingenious campaign has been outstanding successful at getting them to think twice and to realize how responsible they really need to be when behind the wheel."

FMG was developed by road safety officers in the eastern region, working in partnership with a local communciations company, Stennik. The second picture shows members of the project team with the award.
