FMG strikes a chord with cruisers

The For my girlfriend (FMG) campaign has been praised by young 'cruisers' who saw it an event in Milton Keynes recently. One group, the Mean Street Crew, has invited the campaign to attend one of its events, and a spokesman for the London Modified Collective described it as 'probably the best advertising campaign promoting safer driving I have ever seen'.

Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes road safety teams and Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service took FMG to the Milton Keynes Cruise, a large regular gathering of young drivers held every Sunday around the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes.

Feedback from the 'cruisers' has been very positive. The Mean Street Crew, one of the largest legal cruises in the country, has extended an invitation for the campaign to attend one of its events. "We feel your campaign hits very close to home and would benefit a lot of cruisers," said Simon Breach, speaking on behalf of the Crew.

And Clive Larner, who co-runs the 900-strong LMC (London Modified Collective), a club for owners of modified and unmodified cars from across the UK and Ireland, made the 'best advertising campaign' comment. He has requested a link from LMC's website to the FMG site, and asked for a quantity of wristbands to distribute among his members.

Campaign coordinator Sally Bartrum was naturally delighted with this response. "Cruisers are part of our target audience and it's fantastic that they appear to connect with the FMG message," she said. "For the male cruiser two of the most important things in life are his car and girlfriend - and FMG focuses on the relationship between the two.

"The importance these two groups are placing on safety - and the lengths they are prepared to got to promote it among their members - is also very impressive."
