Bournemouth
Bournemouth's road safety team arranged a crash reconstruction in partnership with Dorset Fire & Rescue at Bournemouth University on Valentine's Day.
Bracknell
Students at Bracknell and Wokingham College produced thier own poster for 2008 FMG campaign (see pic). The college's Uniform Public Service students helped hand out Valentine cards and leaflets in Bracknell town centre on the 12th February.
The reconstruction event was a great success with many spectators watching student Sarah Freeth being cut out of the car. Sarah commented that the experience was very real and brought home the seriousness of the situation and its importance to young drivers. Buckinghamshire

The road safety team held a crash reconstruction event at Princes Risborough Fire Station on Monday 11 February. Joe Rouse one of the ‘victims’ said: ‘I was in the car when it was being cut open and although I knew I was safe because all the guys were professionals it didn't stop me being scared, especially when they cut the roof off. It has really made me think twice about driving fast and the importance of wearing a seat belt."

Calderdale (Yorkshire)
Calderdale's road safety team ran a FMG promotion in Halifax town centre on Friday 8 February. Team members, along with the Fire Service and St John Ambulance, went into the local pubs to hand out stress ball hearts with a seat belt message and FMG phone charms. Cambridgeshire
Students in the north of the county experienced the heartbreak of a fatal car crash first hand through a series of crash reconstructions in the north of the county. For more information contact Debbie Maith on 01480 375487.
Cheshire
Cheshire's road safety team distributed FMG Valentine's cards to
educational establishments across the county, and carryied out a heavyweight

Cornwall
 On 15 February Cornwall's Road Safety Unit mocked up a grave, complete with soil, floral wreath and headstone, in the Reef Surf Lodge bar in Newquay. Road safety staff were on hand to discuss the exhibit and the campaign. For further information contact Jane Swift on 01872 324942.
County Mayo, Ireland

More than 1,000 young people in County Mayo received the FMG Valentine's card when it was distributed to third-level and post-Leaving Cert institutions by the local road safety division. For further information contact Noel Gibbons , RSO, on 094 9047115.
Essex
Essex County Council's road safety team ran a FMG event at Davenant Foundation School, Loughton on 8 February.
The team handed out flowers and cards, and there was a 4'x4' display comprising flowers shaped in the number 325 - which represents the number of people killed or seriously injured on Essex roads. For further information contact Kathy Payne, Senior RSO.
Humberside
Safer Roads Humber took advantage of an emergency services event at Hull College on 4-5 February. The event, which focused on a number of different safety issues, was an ideal opportunity to raise awareness of the For My Girlfriend campaign.

Safer Roads Humber also worked in partnership with a number of different agencies to stage five crash extractions across the region.
Leeds
Leeds’ road safety team distributed posters to pubs in the city's main student area and further education establishments in the city. The team also arranged an extrication event on Valentines Day at the University, which attracted large crowds. For further information contact Becky Prosser on 0113 2475198.
Luton
Luton's road safety team organised an event in the town centre on Valentine's Day. The team handed out FMG promotional items and invited people to test their driving skills on a driving simulator. For further information contact Alan Collins.
Peterborough
The City Council's road safety team organised a crash reconstruction event at Peterborough Regional College on 8 February. For further information contact Clair George, RSO.
Sheffield

Sheffield's road safety team organised a crash victim extrication on 14 February at Hallam Square/Howard Street. In addition, Valentines cards were distributed to all Hallam University halls' residents, and posters displayed in colleges and universities across the city. Somerset
Members of the Somerset Road Safety Partnership (which includes Somerset Road Safety, Devon & Somerset Fire Service and Avon & Somerset Constabulary) attended colleges across Somerset to deliver road safety awareness to students. For further information contact Pat Walker on 01823 423430.
Southend on Sea
The road safety team joined forces with Southend United Football Club and Mayhem nightclub to target young people. On 9 February campaign posters were displayed at the football ground, there were campaign messages on the scoreboard and the road safety team handed out red roses and heart-shaped key rings printed with safety messages.

That same evening the team talked to young people outside Mayhem nightclub. The Mayhem Hummer was also be on display, and there were wide-screen TV presentations and a chance to chat with representatives from Rayleigh Traffic Police, Essex Fire and Rescue Service, and some ‘pod’ girls from the nightclub. South Gloucestershire
South Gloucestershire's road safety team organised two events on 14 February,
involving the fire brigade cutting a casualty out of a car, followed by the reading of a witness statement from a mother whose daughter was killed by a young driver. For further information contact Pam Williams, RSO, on (01454) 863606.
Sussex
The Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) hosted a road safety awareness day on February 13 at Boundstone Community College, Lancing, for more than 300 year 11 and sixth form pupils.
The day included the Safe Drive Stay Alive show, various workshops, a driving simulator, a crashed car and moped and first aid. Learn With driving school was on hand to show pupils how to check tyre pressure and vehicle maintenance. At the close pupils received red roses and the Valentine’s Day card to remind them to look after their loved ones when driving. For more information contact Emma Rogers.
Thurrock

Thurrock’s road safety team organised a crash scene reconstruction at Palmer's College on 7 February. 171 red roses were given out to students to represent the number of 17-25 year olds injured on Thurrock’s roads during 2007. For further information contact Denise Langan on 01375 413386.
