Colchester students win FMG competition
Two students from Colchester High School for Girls won the FMG competition that ran during summer 2007.
Students were challenged to put forward ideas to help develop the next phase of the campaign, which will run in February 2008.
Campaign resources produced in the past include posters, a Valentine Card, radio and TV commercials.
"We challenged teams of students to put forward a cracking idea for the next phase of the campaign," says Jo Lazar, FMG campaign manager. "We asked them to focus on the boyfriend/ girlfriend relationship by reminding male drivers of the responsibility they have towards their girlfriend passengers, and girls of the danger they can face while travelling with their boyfriend."
The winning idea was developed by two students from Colchester County High School for Girls - Robin Bangard and Katie Merrell (pictured above). Their idea uses the headline: 'Meeting the parents for the first time is always hard...especially to tell them you've killed their daughter'.
The runners up also came from the same school. Sophie Ho and Laura Kington (pictured above) created a poster showing a crashed car with the headline: 'There are better ways to end a relationship'. After focus group testing, this idea has been used as the basis of one of the creative treatments for the 2008 campaign
The school received a cheque for £500 and the winning students £100 each. The prizes were presented at the school on Monday 10 September.
